Your own home in a fully supported community.

Your own home and front door, within a purpose-built, fully supported community. With kind professionals available 24hrs a day, 365 days-a-year to help as much as you need.

The purpose of Extra Care housing is to provide residents with their own home and front door where care and support services are available as much as required. This might be a fully structured, daily care package, or adhoc support – such as personal care needs, meal preparation, medication prompting and administration, shopping and social calls – as and when needed.

24-hour staffing support is available to ensure that someone can respond quickly to any emergencies. Tenants can call on their emergency pendant to raise the alarm to the Carers on site if there is an emergency such as an accident or fall.

There is a core team of First City Care staff who work in the building and details of these staff can be found on the First City noticeboard located in each Extra Care Scheme, along with the contact details of the Community Hubs Manager and Scheme Manager.

The Community Hubs Manager oversees everything relating to care and support and the day services provided within the Extra Care schemes. Additionally, the Scheme Manager is responsible for anything relating to your tenancy within the scheme.

Day Services

Within our Extra Care establishments there are Day Centre facilities which all tenants can access, and some which are also available to customers who live in the community.

Residents love the activities that are organised at Day Centres as well as meals and health checks that are provided in partnership with local health professionals.

Day Centres are currently open between 09.30-16.00 Monday – Friday excluding bank holidays. We would like to extend these opening times to and find new ways to reach and meet the needs and wishes of a wider audience.

The cost of accessing Day Services is very reasonable and affordable and is on a per session basis. There is a growing range of activities available, as well as individually tailored activities and wellbeing support. This can be extremely supportive both to those attending and can offer respite to those who support them when they are at home.
