Why choose our Extra Care service?

Extra Care is a fairly modern idea; it is about supported living in a service user's own flat, providing choice, control and privacy.

It is usually provided in a Sheltered Housing Scheme. 

Extra Care provides 24 hour staffing support, 365 days a year, of which tenants receive a domiciliary care package with structured calls.

Within Extra Care establishments there are restaurants for all to use and day centre facilities for tenants who have been assessed as requiring a day centre service. It is also available for others who live outside the scheme that have been assessed.

The purpose of Extra Care Housing is to provide tenants with their own home and their own front door where care and support services are available. For example, we can provide extra support with personal care needs and bathing, meal preparation, medication prompting, shopping, and social calls.

The floating 24 hour staffing support, is to ensure someone can respond to emergencies quickly such as medical emergencies, fire alarms and falls. This service also provides tenants with additional support to attend activities and entertainments going on within the schemes.
