The opportunity to support people. I grew up around a lot of family, including my Grandparents and Aunties and so love being among people. I took care of my Grandmother before she passed, and this is what made me interested in the healthcare industry. Before moving to the UK, I was working in the industry for years, and had been a nurse for 3 years. My plan is to work towards meeting the requirements to be able to practice as a nurse here in England.
I found the induction very educating. When I thought about healthcare I thought it was just taking care of people, I didn't know there were so many rules and so many different forms of equipment. It all sounded very complicated but became less so as I started using them during and after the shadow shifts. I liked the trainer's method of teaching, it was very attention grabbing using real life scenarios. I really enjoyed learning it all!
I have found colleagues to be really helpful. Being new, I was confused easily as I came across new circumstances, however my colleagues really helped me. If I wasn't sure about something, they have been very patient and understanding. I am very comfortable with my colleagues, any questions I have had have been received with no hard expression, they have been eager to help me.
Professional, but also laid back. I have found First City have people that really care a lot. If there are any problems I can call the office, they will listen, we talk it through and they're ready to help. I have found First City to be supportive, I can always go to them. It's like a family, everyone interacts like a family would.
I look forward to more training with First City and am happy for the opportunity to continue to develop!
We look forward to speaking with Miracle again in a few months time to see how their journey with First City is progressing.
