One Hour of Care - Reception

A Reception colleague is at the forefront of First City. They may be the first person someone meets when joining the business, or the friendly welcome to visitors. Colleagues, customers, partners and trainees all benefit from the warm and professional approach of our Receptionist.

But it's not just welcoming people into the business, our Receptionist responsibilities include organising PPE and Covid lateral flow test distribution - a crucial role for keeping our colleagues and customers safe.

Not only does our Receptionist support colleagues with their enquiries and requests when they arrive at First City House, they also get to know colleagues and over time, build professional relationships in order to recognise when someone may need someone to talk to or additional support from a line manager.

It is important for a Reception colleague to be connected to every department within the organisation, knowing who the best contact is for an enquiry, knowing the daily appointments and who each person is meeting with, being aware of room bookings and generally knowing who is in the building and where due to certain rooms holding confidential information and needing to be kept secure.

Alongside overseeing the Reception area, our Reception team supports some admin duties for our Training team, including overseeing certificates, inputting accurate data onto the training matrix, supporting with external bookings and liaising between external organisations and our Training team, to effectively arrange closed courses when requested.

It takes an approachable individual to work within the Reception role; someone who is kind, caring, compassionate, honest and truly wants to make a difference to the lives of others by ensuring providing a warm and welcoming greeting into the business to everyone who calls or steps through the door.

Without Reception there would be no front of house; no one to greet interviewees, show people to the relevant training rooms or provide PPE to our colleagues.
