During the month of January we have explored the need to think of our own health and wellbeing. Taking just five minutes without distraction can really make a positive difference to your mood. Our breakout room has provided a space of positivity and calmness for colleagues to take a moment of reflection or relaxation during their busy day. with LED candles, lucky pennies and a few sweet treats, the room also provided the opportunity to attempt a puzzle, unwind with some colouring or to pick up a new book. It has been a wonderful space to 'take 5!'.
Physical exercise doesn't have to be extreme, a short walk, some simple stretching or a full work our can aid us in stepping away from our everyday routines to look after our physical health and wellbeing. Friends Pilates put on a Pilates session for some of our colleagues and have offered a special concession to colleagues wishing to take up lessons. Local fitness organisations Operation Fit and Battle Bootcamp have also offered special deals for our colleagues during the month of January to help us get active in 2024!
Our diet is just as important to remember as physical exercise to ensure we are healthy. The Eatwell guide is a useful tool to check that you are maintaining a balanced diet. More about this and other guidance (including for vegetarian and vegan diets) from the NHS can be found here. While it is vital to ensure healthy options are available it is also okay to treat yourself in moderation as well. Our colleagues have enjoyed a variety of lunches throughout January thanks to a special offer from Fillerz.
A message to our colleagues:
We know you are amazing at supporting others, but please do remember to also look after yourself! Stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet, embrace some gentle exercise and do something for you!.. Even taking just five minutes to yourself each day can really make a difference.
