Lillie Quick

SHAPE Facilitator at First City Care Group

Previous Employment: Deputy Manager of a residential children's service

What encouraged you to apply to the SHAPE team?

I have a background in care, which has been a rewarding experience for me. However, I was seeking a role with more regular hours that would still allow me to make a meaningful impact.  I really liked how first city placed importance on being person centered and putting the customer first.

What have you enjoyed most about the role so far?

My favourite thing about the role is getting to go out and meet out clients. Every day is different and it is a really rewarding feeling to know that you can have a positive impact on someone’s day and ensure they are receiving a completely personalised service.

How did you find the induction training with First City?

I really enjoyed my induction training. The trainers were great and answered every question we had. It was handy that the training was in first city house, rather than somewhere external.

How has your introduction to the role of SHAPE Facilitator been?

I have really enjoyed my introduction to the role of SHAPE Facilitator. All my colleagues have taken me out to shadow their assessments and it was great to pick up tips from them. My manager has been really supportive in helping me to learn my role, giving me the tools I have needed to become a SHAPE facilitator.

Thinking about the start of your journey working with First City, how would you describe the company?

Right from the start of my journey with first city I have felt welcomed and supported. From the interview through till now everyone has made me feel very welcomed and helped me whenever I have needed it. I have found the importance placed on continuing to improve our knowledge brilliant and have enjoyed all the training opportunities I have been given.  It has been really nice to be part of a workplace that focuses on putting the customer first.

What would you say to someone considering applying to a SHAPE Facilitator/Support Planner role?

I would say go for it! Every day is different, you get to meet some lovely people and feel like you are making a difference. Everyone in the office is really welcoming and supportive.

What values do you think are most important for someone working in the industry?

I think the most important thing is that you genuinely care. You need to be in the role for the right reasons and want to help people. I also think it is important to be organised and hardworking.
